We were locked out of the "24-hour" hostel, because they make you leave your key when you go and the night guard fell asleep, so we had to sneak into the hostel through some dark alley and were actually able to get in our room without going through security at all - not safe and not fun at 330am. The hostel was clean, but loud due to thin walls - we were told to be quiet once when we were talking in a normal voice volume - be sure to bring ear plugs. The location is good, but there are tons of hostels to choose from in the same area.

Not very noteworthy, but good value and great location.

There was a lot of noise at night. But it was clean and that was the most important according to us.

Room was clean, tidy and a good size for the money. The street was noisy but I think that's just to be expected in Madrid. Only thing we were confused about were the lights. Had to hunt someone down to tell us what we were doing wrong. Then we realized how great this system was! No wasting electricity - love it! Staff was very friendly.

A more than decent place to stay in Madrid. The location is great. The room was good: airconditioning, shower and bed were good. The staff is friendly and helpfull. Not so much a place to meet others travellers (since the public space to meet others is small). Internet is available for free. All in all a really good place to start your Madrid sightseeing from.

Great place. Old but the rooms are clean and tidy. 24hr staff & access. Safe in room avail. Just a few min walk to centre of city and great Cerveseria!

Very centrally located. Check in on the first floor in Cerevelo however as it's a bit confusing. Internet works great on the third floor if you can manage to get a room there. The internet never worked with my mac powerbook on the first floor.

Although it is only 5 minutes away from Plaza Mayor, i did not like the area at all. Although nothing happened to us, the area did not seem very safe at night. I was glad I was not alone.

The location of the hostal is perfect. You can go everywhere by 5 minutes walking. But the stuff is not so good. There was a free internet service in the hostal but, without a mind it's between 10:00am-10:00pm. I had to use the internet to make a booking from hostelworld because we were leaving madrid the next day. The time was 10:10pm and a rude man came shouted at me :(

Positives: Location, Air Conditioning worked great, Good access to train station and local shops. Internet connection was great. Lift/Elevator was a plus. Negatives: Beds were kind of hard, scary hallway to get to room, hassle to get to check in to deposit key and then later take lift to get to actual room. Very noisy - hallways echo, paper thin walls and the shower curtain was not long enough to cover water splashing out. Towels were very old.
