If you want access to Venice Beach - this is a good place to be. If you want access to downtown - choose somewhere nearer or get the express bus from Santa Monica. All in all a pleasant place to stay.

This hostel is a good value for the money, especially the private rooms. Facilities are simple but they have what you need. Location is a long walk from some great areas like the beaches of Santa Monica and Venice, but to me this is a positive is the balmy CA sunshine! Otherwise, the number 3 bus is super-convenient. I would stay here again if I come back to LA.

Trip type: traveling for extended period through many countries. The hostel was a bit drab and they had several guests who seemed to be living there... or at least acted like they were. Kitchen cupboards needed a good cleaning. Very helpful staff.

This is the first time I stayed at a hostel. I think I will always stay at a hostel wherever I travel from now on. The staffs are friendly and helpful. If you don't want to stay in a hotel room alone, definitely give this hostel a try. Maybe you will make a friend or two. I did. Bon voyage!
