We enjoyed the stay. Thought it was in a great location. Not that many social activities. We were also pretty much the youngest people there. It was a nice quiet hostel though.

Thanks for a great vacation. Last June while in SD I made the mistake of staying at another local hostel...big mistake. They over charged me, were extremely rude about it, and I was not the only traveler who had the same experience with them. Your staff is gracious and easy to do business with. Thanks again! I won't make the mistake of staying elsewhere again.

The best of the hostel is the location, just in the middle of the Gaslamp Quarter, which is a very safe area, and the staff was great, trying to help you all the time.

What a great hostel! I stayed there for three nights and it's located right downtown! Pancakes for breakfast, fun staff, bar hops... This hostel has everything you need, even comfortable beds!
Only one downer : you definitely need a car in San Diego if you only have a couple of days and you want to see all the major attractions (Point Loma, zoo, beach, etc.). You can take a bus to Tijuana though. Grab the tour guide made by Jared from HI San Diego, it seems to be really worth it (we went to

Everything was pretty much great for the price! If you have a vehicle, parking can be a problem, unless we just picked a particularly busy weekend to be there. There is a parking garage nearby if one is willing to pay $8 til 3 a.m. and $1/hr thereafter. Metered parking is free from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. if you get a side of the street the street cleaner won't be hitting on during those hours. (The meters have signs to let you know.) Such a lot to do nearby. Shopping, dining, dancing, movies, Pet

The activities were great, the staff was awesome fun and helpful, the location was perfect (unless you wanted to sleep). The common areas were comfortable and very nice. Only down side was the few looneys that were staying there. They seemed either a little mental and/or homeless. They made everyone they approached visibly uncomfortable.
