The location for this hostel was excellent- right off Las Ramblas and close to the metro. I found the sleeping arrangements at the hostel a little surprising. On-line I had booked beds in a 12 bed female dorm, but when we checked in, I was pleased to find out we were in a 4 bed dorm. You had to walk through a mixed dorm to get to the room (I think that room was originally just a hallway...) There were lockers in the rooms, but in our room only 2 out of the 6 lockers still had functional locks. The bathrooms were co-ed and the showers didn't lock. It's definitely a hostel where people stay out late- when we got back at 2am, no one was in the other room.
The staff was friendly, breakfast was ok (baguette, jelly, juice and coffee or hot chocolate) and the free internet was a definite bonus. Certainly not the best hostel we stayed at, but not the worst either.

Hey the hostel is pretty good, it has an excellent location, it is great to meet people if your travelling alone, the only thing is it can get overcrowded in some seasons but who goes to sleep at a hostal anyway? Well overall is a good stay for a good price

It's a very nice hostel. I like it. Next time I come to Barcelona, I'll be stayed here. It's open 24 h, there is WIFI, Laundry, self-service drinks machines, lift, lockers, fridge (but not kitchen), bike storage space, etc...

The place is in a great location, with excellent security. I had to swipe a key three times before I was in my room. I don´t know if I went at a slow time, but there wasn´t much action going on inside the hostel. I found it a bit difficult to meet people.

Great location, right next to the major road in town. Fun night life. Some of the staff know the best places to go out at night.

The ambiance is extremely nice! The tables invite the other to talk and friendships are made in minutes!
I think that the breakfast is too small, it should fill our stomaches! Even if we pay 1 ou 1,50 € more expensive.
It's clean, but there's a lot of cigarrette ashes everywhere.

I really liked ideal youth hostel; the staff were very friendly and helpful when we asked them about the area/ attractions etc. and were very welcoming when we arrived. the reason i gave the hostel only 3 stars for cleanliness was that although the shower and toilet were very clean (and despite having 8 girls sharing we never ran out of toilet paper!) the sink was blocked up for much of our stay and this was quite unhygienic. however once reception was notified the problem was rectified immediately, and the man who came to fix it was also very friendly. It is an excellent hostel, one of the best i've stayed in in my experience and will definitely recommend it to others.
