The hostel was in an excellent location next to many others in Ipanema. Staff were friendly and willing to help, however their organisation was lacking sometimes.
Had all the typical security expected but our room (4 bed mixed) had no lock and no where to secure you large packs. Next door had lockers so most valuables could be placed there. Biggest complaints were lack of air conditioning in a room with no windows and breakfast was very basic with not enough to go around. However, the pla

The rooms were extremely hot, no windows and hot ceiling. Nobody could sleep in that room. I woke up every morning at 7 and moved to a wood bench on the street were some you could find some air. I've slept in worst places, but for 60 USD... something doesn't feel right. We moved the next day to Girl From Ipanema, the hostel next door, and for the same price you get a really nice much better place.

I fell through the bed,we couldn´t close the window, the fan didn´t work, the room was dark, just a bad and expensive hostel.

Great location and staff was friendly and helpful. However, dorm room small and dark, window to hall only, fan only, no air con, little changing of waste basket in room (not for 3 days). Free internet but no bar or cental area to get together except courtyard.

Great hostel with fun staff Alex, Charlie and Mario and Maranhao - very helpful and friendly and very chilled and easy going crew.
Great location - 2 blocks from the beach. Fun place to hang out during the day and at night. There are about 5 other hostels in the laneway, the Wave was definitely the best and liveliest one!! Would definitely come back here.

Right when we arrived we felt very safe and there was a great vibe. the location was really nice - only 2 blocks from the beach! there was a great variety of options around the hostel and there were also a lot of fun scheduled events - especially the FLAMENGO game in the biggest stadium - maracana. the atmosphere in the stadium was unbelievable! flamengo fans rock!
the staff makes the difference - alex and kyle were very easy going and helpful and fun.
all in all, fantastic! canada loves the
