It was a good place to stay, a bit bright at night for sleeping and the staff were not particularily friendly but I met several cool people and had quite an enjoyable stay. I would certainly recomend it (with a few warnings) to anyone. Although, for the same price I would recomend Gojo Guest House Cafe with very friendly staff and traditional style japanese beds and gues house plus a cool cafe for drinks and just chilling in the evening or to excape the heat of the day. This is by far the coole

The hostel's name is its motto. You get what you pay for. It takes some time to get there from Kyoto station but you can get very easy to the main sightseeing spots in Kyoto for example by bike. I can really recommend that! Poor thing is that there are not enough lockers for everyone and you have to go to the showers by a staircase next to the street. However the staff is very friendly and the guys around there are really nice. So its ok for sightseeing in and around Kyoto.

Please provide towels for the showers. If that is expensive, then please have an option where I can pay for a towel.

I didnt like this place. Very basic, and not actually that cheap. The 2 internet points are shared between about 50 people. I had lice in my bed, a very thin matress, and a emergency light on all night near my bed. However, I probably had a bad stay and other people enjoyed it more. I got the feeling that they were just trying to cram as many people in as possible. I think if you book early you should be able to get a much more homely place at a similar price

You pay for what you get, which is essentially a bunk bed. All the facilities are there and the location is good. Can't really complain given the price.

The staff were friendly and helpful. I liked the curtains around the beds.

everything was fine until the reservation mix up & getting kicked out a day earlier than expected - but the staff was helpful in finding an alternate place to stay

The common room looks like a basement and the showers smell a little and are very tiny. Moreover, to go there, you must go out. But, each bed has a curtain, so there's privacy and rental bikes are very cheap and convenient. The location is quite good, because you can go everywhere by foot or bike.
