Good dorm accommodation and very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. The only suggestion is for the online directions. Instead of "cross over" after passing Fedex Kinkos say, "walk across the street, keeping on the Fedex Kinkos side". No getting lost if you just change these directions.

I stayed in a four bed ensuite dorm which was quite nice. The room was a good size and had a tv. Its in a good location close to ueno, but finding it may be dificult...you have to look for the sign on the main road which point to an alleyway/ carpark where oak is located.

Great place and highly recommended. Extremely clean, free internet, laundry available, a/c and a very helpful staff. I would recommend staying here to anyone. The only small drawback is that it's about 30-45 minutes away from a few of the main going-out areas (Shibuya, Roppongi, Shinjuku) and the subways close around 12:15. Plan on either coming back before then, staying out all night till at least 5 (which I did a few times and is quite common among the population) or paying about 4500 yen for a cab ride. Other than that, though, just a great experience.

if you don't mind travelling a bit to the big cities, then this place is for you. it's a walk from the JR station, especially after you've been walking around for hours in the city. staff is really friendly and they can communicate in english. i wasn't expecting much when i first booked the rooms, but i was pleasantly surprised when i arrived. the room was a bit small, but liveable. the bathroom was even smaller. the shower might be a problem for those that are 5'8'' and over. i would definitely stay here again.

The staff were most helpful and kind and friendly. They helped us find our way around and find places we wanted to see. Without them, we would not have been able to enjoy Japan as much and would not have found anything as it sure is not easy! I really appreciated the Oak Hotel staff and their politeness and goodness. It was an excellent deal and the location is perfect for everything! I would definitely stay there again and it is very safe and accessible.

The staff is friendly and helpful. I only stayed here 3 nights just to rest from the day's activities. The prices are reasonable/affordable. This is the first time in a hostel, pretty tight living area but feasable nevertheless. Overall, not too bad. Just make sure if you go here, to find that fedex office that they have on the map. You probably won't see it right away once out of the subway station but you may see the Hertz/Toyota sign which is directly across from it. And the side road where it's located, is more like an alleyway not a street, so keep an eye out.

Fantastic staff!! Everybody working at the Oak Hotel makes you feel so welcome and is so helpful. Rie's and Satsuki's smiles will never be forgotten. Very special people. If you're staying in Tokyo, I fully recommend this hotel as the perfect adequately-priced choice.
