Bag storage is not secure. Anyone can go back there and pretty much do whatever. I hope in the future they don't let just anybody back there. The corner by the stairs had a funky smell. Bathrooms stank. I don't mind a common area that allows smoking but one of the workers was ALWAYS in the common area chain smoking which was not cool. Anyhow this was my second and last time stay there.

Stayed here for the 2nd year in a row, this time in their new building, and had another excellent visit.

Very nice hostel. The West Yard is way more comfortable. They let us watch soccer at 3 o'clock at night. They got a bit confused with the payment and we had to pay more than expected. Besides that very good location and nice atmosphere.

I was there for a few days in June 2008. It's quite an amazing place. The hostel is located in a central modern area, very close to the subway station. While it is located behind a busy main street, its immediate surroundings is an old, traditional neighborhood. It is really quiet charming to be able to experience both old and new by staying at the same place. Hostels around the world I have stayed. This is really the best one. The cleanliness, characters, and the helpfulness of the staff

This was an exceptionally well-run hostel in a fascinating section of Beijing. Although not for everyone, it met all of our needs and then some. A particular benefit for us was the availability of WiFi. There is some neighborhood noise, but it did not bother us and simply is part of residing in the Hutongs of Beijing.

you have to be aware that it is a very original place, so i.e. the chamber has thin walls etc. If you were used to luxury, thats not the place for you to stay. But therefore you get the real taste of beeing in center of old beijing. Staff is very friendly! We liked staying at red lantern and miss it .
