I Really Enjoyed staying at the Rembrandt Square

I've been at Rembrandt Square Hotel in Amsterdam (19-23 September 2007). At the arrival, the receptionist said to me that the 10% of my reservation (the amount which is called "DEPOSIT" on the reservation form)will not be given back to me or considered as a partial payment for the room; actually he said that the "DEPOSIT" is for your organization? ....is that correct or no? It seems a little bit strange to me that an amount of money, called "deposit" for a reservation should be considered SPENT for the organization. Could you please explain me how does it work properely? Thank you very much!

Todo ha ido perfecto, la verdad que el hotel estaba muy bien situado. La relación calidad precio es buena. Lo único malo es que esta en la zona de pubs, y es un poco ruidoso.

Great location in Rembrandtplein, right where many bars and clubs are. The location is fantastic and easy to get to. The rooms were clean and comfortable, as was the shared bathroom. However, the room was quite stuffy with the window closed, but when open, dozens of mosquitoes would come into the room. We discovered this fact the hard way -- by being bitten many times the first day. The management refused to change rooms for us, so be careful of this -- make sure you ask to see the room first and avoid the rooms on the 2nd floor that open to the roof area, as the standing water there is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Although situated in a excellent location for all of Amsterdams attractions, the hotel its self was in poor condition and could do with a good lick of paint and rooms were of poor quality, decor and cleanliness wise. Also be warned this hotel has 5 floors and NO lift, and stairs extremely narrow, and by the time you get to the 5th floor you need a weeks holiday to recover.

Being in Amsterdam for a stag weekend this hotel was perfect. Clean and tidy place to rest your head, a good breakfast in the morning and an excellent location.

Other reviews said that this hotel was loud. We were on the second floor and didn;t have a problem. Rooms was small but clean, bathrooms were even smaller and pretty clean. The shower was tiny, barely room to turn around, but the water pressure was nice, especially after traveling. Location is perfect, walking distance from the train station but away from the cheesy t-shirt shops. I would stay here again even though I thought it was a little over-priced.
