The inital room we were to stay in was VERY musty and dank smelling. The staff was willing to upgrade us, for a fee of course to the Annex which was a much nicer section.

There are many conflicting comments about the location. 1st, the Ryokan has made extra effort to be able to be found.... and it is extremely easy. The subway director at the changing point realized we were tourists and asked if we were headed to Kangetsu and gave us a map.... but the one on the internet is very clear. Second, it is on a line which is NOT a JR line so for those who are not on a rail pass it does cost an additional $2.50usd round trip. Also it is outside of *downtown* but a very charming neighborhood with lots of places to eat. Third, and most importantly, it is beautiful. It is an oasis amidst the hubbub of Tokyo.... updated with plenty of internet and dvds and cd players and wonderful massage chairs. It made the madness of the big city bearable for us. It is not a cool, youthful, get^action kind of place.... but it is wonderful in so many other ways.

I highly recommend staying at this ryokan. Even though it's a bit out of the way, it's a wonderful environment to relax in after a day of sight-seeing around Tokyo. It's truly a beautiful oasis--especially loved the robes and the open air bath. I enjoyed every moment and am so grateful to have stayed there. I'm also recommending it to all my friends who come to Japan!

i think the time range of onsen and internet usage should further extend (suggest that internet 24 hr while the onsen to 2am). As i found out there were still quite a lot of tourist staying awake late as 2am in the morning. The location of the Ryokan is a bit far away from city center.

A very nice place to stay, awsom staff and a very nice neighborhood. I'd deffinately reccomend it to anyone in the area if they dont mind riding the train to and from the hotel, gets kind of exspensive after a trip a day to the yamamote line and arround. i give it a nine 9 out of ten 10, only for the location is kinda bad.

It was located a little further out than I expected, but the service was excellent and the price was quite good.

Fantastic place, little bit awkward to get to but very close to a tube station. We would definitely consider using again. Good value for money, for Japanese standards.

I would recommend this cozy and very Japanese hotel to anyone why likes to taste the traditional side of Japan. I was amazed by the beautiful garden that they have, the open air bath, the massage chair, and the relaxation you can ever expect.
