it's a great place, we thought...we stayed at the main house though (other room seemed to look more industrial)..there was always tea available, message chair and free internet were great..the place is right next to the station (very convinient if have a jr pass - took us 1/2 hour to an hour to get to the center - which is not a lot)...we asked for a private room for 3, got a single and a double...nobody speaks english though...lovely women's bath...no curfew (although on the site they said there was - but we came home very late and it didn't seem to be a problem..overall: would stay there again...

This is the most incredible place to stay, you get more than what you pay for. For the price of any motel 6 in America, you can get the most traditiional style Japanese environment that upon arrival, is the best way to embrace the culture. They make it so comfortable and all at home needs are available such as free email/computer usage, DVD lounges, laundry facility, hot spa baths, massage chairs-which are all an excellent way to end your day of walking all around the city. The train is literally one block away with all access to other rails and points of interest. Very central to everything yet in a quaint village without the hustle and bustle. A grocery store and 7eleven also one block away. All in all, the best kept secret outside the high priced hotels everywhere else. I will definately return. I absolutely loved my experience with Ryokan Kangetsu! Thank You!!!!

This place is fantastic. The outdoor bath is an exquisite experience! Though not in the central, it's very accessible. It is a nice place to experience Tokyo suburb. I will come and stay here again and again and will recommend it to all my friends who are visiting Tokyo! Its better than any 5 stars hotel I have stayed in for my business trip!

Its about an hour away from the main city area. It costs about 250-300 yen just to get to town from this hostel.
But its a really lovely place to stay with free use of massage chairs and great and helpful people!

A nice place to stay with Japanese character. About half an hour from Tokyo centre, but in a nice part of town.

The character of the hotel is really charming-a nice dive into some other world after the skyscrapers in the center. I had no problems according to the security of my baggage. Location-it really depends on you. If you are the type who strars the day early in the morning-there should be no complains at all. If you are rather up to stay longer in the night in the city-you are limited by the trains-the last train comes to Chedori-Cho at 0:35 - this is the limit. I suggest to really use the JR connection instead of Metro - this is 3 times faster and 2 times cheaper. It takes about 30 min to Tokyo station. In Tokyo scale it is very good! Stuff is very helpful, but English explainations do
not expect from them. Fun? This is not a real youth hostel in a standard way-there are not so many young people there. But there is wireles internet in the whole hotel to compensate for this ;) But actually - this point is mainly up to you!
