I stayed @ Square Caulaincourt for only one night, but was very positively surprised. The Place is clean and the staff was very friendly and helpfull (and fluent in english)The room had an electronic Key , the breafast was good and there are small restaurants of all prices in easy walking distance (also close to metro-station) I travelled with two children 10 +11 and was first a little concerned to stay @ a hostel but Square Caulaincourt was wonderfull. I can recomend it to any Traveler of any age group.

Beautiful area of Montmartre. You stay in the typical cramped hostel space with more people in a room that should normally be in a room. But then you are staying in a nice hotel with a really great location rather than a sketchy warehouse.

haha. where to begin. just a couple of pans in the kitchen, and that's all!.. really, not kidding. the staff, well, u couldn't ask anything without they showing u a bad face. location, far far far.. and the room, smelling like cigar the entire time.

Location was good for the sacre coer /moulin rouge area but not for the main sites in paris. Hostel was cleaned well but over all it had a damp almost mildewy feel. Staff was good though and I would stay again if they improved the ventilation

The security wasn't the greatest. There were several different groups that arrived a couple hours early and there was no place to store our luggage except out in the open across the room from the check-in desk. It also smelled of smoke (the staff at the desk even had a cigarette in his hand) despite the signs everywhere that said "no smoking." They had an excellent breakfast, though. And the Internet access was decent. Breakfast was a great place to meet people and I made several friends while staying here.

Good location, not the best for meeting people as no central hang-out area. Not the cleanest blankets, but far from the dirtiest place I've stayed.

This hostel was a lot of fun and the people were great. And since most hostels in Paris are dirty by American standards a low rating isn't a surprise. Expect to see dirty conditions in Paris.
