The front door to the gaslamp quarter is left open all day & there is no-one checking who is entering into the hostel - anyone could walk in off the street if they wanted! On my second night there was a man in one the bunks even though I had booked a female dorm. There was no hot water on my last night there or the following morning when I wanted to take a shower before leaving. BUT the location is the best for the Gaslamp Quarter you are right in the middle of everything!

Excellent location, right in the middle of San Diego downtown. Free pancakes for breakfast when I was there and an excellent kitchen for those who wanted to bring things back/cook at the hostel. The hostel provided one locker per person in the rooms, plus had a number of additional lockers outside the rooms for use if you had too much stuff / for your day of checkout etc. Rooms weren\'t too squashy, the bathroom / showers on the 1st floor were always pretty clean (although make sure you shower before about 10am as the hot water wasn\'t so hot later in the mornings).

Very nice hostel, nice people too. Only negative was that my room had no AC and no window and therefore was quite hot. But otherwise great.
It is international in the true sense and I was comfortable despite my age and am determined to send my daughters for vacation to San Diego and stay at USA hostels. There is so much to learn about life values by staying here.
This place is AMAZING! Spent 8 nights here with friends and loved it. So many fun people and awesome activities. Also a great location right in the center of downtown. Very clean, very safe- didin't even lock up my computer after the first night.
This hostel was awesome! Great atmosphere, free internet and breakfast and the staff were fantastic. only bad thing.... shower rooms were being refurbished so had to que for a shower and the water was hardly ever warm!
