There's no getting round the fact that this hostel is student-oriented. Stuff such as the showers in the dorms and the general staff helpfulness are very welcome; the cleanliness is also top rate. But if you're after something more idiosyncratic and intimate, go somewhere else.

Staff was great. Also very clean with good drinks and great food. I little bit of a hike from the train station.

If you like to party and drink and be loud this place is great. Personally, it was hard to sleep, the crowd was young (I'm 24). The room I was in faced the street and it was very hard to sleep, and a bit cramped. The breakfast costs 3.50 euro, (it's lame.) Do yourself a favor and go to one of vienna's cafe's, the coffee is amaying and cheap. And the breakfast will be much more satisfying.

I had an extremely nice stay at the hostel. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and this place outperforms many a hotel on all fronts. One thing I missed though was MERCHANDISE! Where are the cute furry Wombats, the Wombat T-shirts, Wombat bra, ... etc etc etc :°)

Although Wombats was really fun (great bar, great staff etc) the travellers were all very young. I'm only 22, but I found myself surrounded by school groups and 18 year olds on spring break. Not a big age difference I know, but it was definitely a high school feel

Very seedy area. Felt very unsafe coming back late at night. Otherwise a good experience.

overall the wombat hostel was average. it was far away from the city center, but close to the underground. although the atmosphere was very energetic, the hostel was disgustingly smokey and really loud and our room was right above the bar.
