The hostel was a lot of fun, I met some really cool people from all over the world. All needs were met. However, it had quite a few dirty spots that smelled like BO and piss. Also I got sick from sharing a room with so many other people. Great location. Probably wouldnt stay there again though because of the dirtiness.

My least favorite hostel in Japan. Checking in was a nightmare both times! The first time we checked in, we waited 30 min for the clerks to re-calculate our room rate since they changed our pre-booking due to maintenance problems. We waited longer the second time because they forgot the room rate they had promised us. The overall feeling of the hostel was cramped, cluttered and dirty. Our room was a storage unit, windowless, and measuring 7ft by 9ft. I would not book again with Bakpak.

Be sure that a dormitory style hostel is what you want when you book here...because that is certainly what it is. The location is fantastic, however that is the only above average thing worth mentioning.

Only two small annoyances: 1) Reception and checkin's open from 10am-10pm (opens a bit late) 2) My mattress was a bit thin Other than that: 3 internet terminals, fridges on every level (at least on mine), not just one but 2 lounges, just outside the subway, 24 hour supermarket and liquor shop/vending machine next door - what more can you ask for?

This hostel had inadequate bathroom facilities. The staff was unfriendly and I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Fantastic location right next to the Gion nightlife district and right next to many of the nicer temples and shrines. You are better off here than hear the JR train station. This hostel is also a lot of fun and you may easily socialize with other travellers in the lounge area. No curfew!

Enjoyable but definately avoid the dorms if you can - very unconsiderate people in our room. Very good location and very secure. Free Internet was great and plenty of hot water in the showers
