Reconstructed on the former site of a Christian Baptist Chapel, the hostel carried a charming air of old German architecture, and is located right in the centre of Qingdao city's concession area. A good budget choice for backpackers. Features a great little bar and is very close to the sea.

The place is awesome, with a lot of facilities for the guests .. the restaurant has pretty good breakfasts, although the service takes too long ... but, if I have/want to go to Qindao again, I won't think about the place twice.. just i'll book the room in Kaiyue Hostel.

Kaiyue might not be the most modern hostel you ever stay in - yes the rooms are mostly in their original state from the hostel's days as a church, and yes, the location isn't beach side, but this should not deter anyone from staying at Kaiyue. I couldn't recommend this hostel enough! The character is great, I love the old feeling, and the new bar is genuinely gorgeous and an awesome place to hang out . What really makes Kaiyue worth it, besides the bar with cheap drinks (all between 10 and 30 ku

Amazing renovation since the last time I was there (at least in the common area)! It looks great. Food was great too, and the staff was very helpful. This hostel is located in the old German quarter with easy bus access to the new part of town where there are some western cafes.
