This is a nice place to stay at, but the area is HORRIBLE. When you go to the bar or are around the pool area, DO NOT SPEAK WITH THE BLACK PEOPLE. The black people from the area wanted to fight one of my friends, because he was talking to a girl in the pool. The security does not do a good job in kicking those people out of the hostel, but I'm sure they will step in if something were to happen. I remember seeing one girl outside who looked like another foreigner and she looked horrible and she was sitting next to this black man. Please do not speak with the black people as they will try to give you drugs and will try to take advanatage of you. If you stay at this hostel, don't speak with the black people and you will be fine. If they bother you call security or the police, so that they can leave you alone. I have stayed at this hostel several times and I enjoy it, but I have seen the blacks trying to cause problems around there.

I appreciated the cleanliness of the linens. Staff tends to be a little terse at times and the facilty has no tourist-type info. ie; free maps, brouchers on things to do in the area etc... I took several of the tenants to the Halloween parade & around town. Most had no idea of all the things available to do or how to get there. The security of the facility is good. I think that for female travelers they should recommend renting a car to travel in the near-by areas or provide a shuttle to safer bus stops.

Firstly I want to give a fair and accurate description. The first thing is that the free shuttle bus doesnt say 'backpackers paradise' on it. it said 'tradewinds hotels' or other things. So i was left waiting for an hour in LAX airport at midnight for the bus to come and when i called to ask whether it had been they just said it was 'coming' and nothing else. I had to call 3 times before i finally got picked up. They didnt even ask for my name or any details so they could identify me to pick me up. That wasnt a good start. Then the rooms was ok. there was linen provided and a small towel, but they were sometimes stained. There is no AC in the dorms so it is roasting hot at night. The pool was cloudy and green and was not hygenic to swim in. Lastly The 'conitental breakfast' was a muffin and tea /coffee everyday. that was a let down. They did have do free cookies and champagne though in the afternoon / early eve. and location wise you can take a couple of buses straight to hollywood and beverly hills so it is not outragoeusly far but Inglewood is a bit of a rough area so dont walk around it alone especially in the evening. and lastly which was the worst - there is the issue of staff. There were 2 australian ladies who were lovely and helpful. And then there was a russian lady called Anka and she was the rudest person i have ever met. She spoke to you rudely and abruptly and was rude to other customers in front of the whole lobby. And when a lady was trying to check into a room she she just repled 'the answer is no' and walked off to do something else. She looked at you as if you were an inconvienience and was never polite and i saw her for four days working and i kept hearing stories of her rudeness to guests. So all in all if you can find somewhere else then please do but if you are really stuck for places then this is bearable. They give you free shuttle buses to Venice beach but only from 12-4 so you only get about 3.5 hours at the beach. And the driver is rude aswell. You can get private rooms which a bit more accepatable with a TV and ensuite. So if you want a private room then that is better. All in all, not amazing but you meet new people and just spend as much time as you can outside the hostel.

THE HOSTEL WAS IN SAD SHAPE. THE BED WERE UNCOMFORTABLE TO SLEEP ON AND THE WASHROOMS WERE IN BAD SHAPE.
