Great Location in Santa Monica, but I stayed for 2 nights in Venice Beach and it's a lot more fun, the Venice Beach Cotel is more simple but a lot more fun, less than a block away from muscle beach, I liked that one a lot more than H.I. Santa Monica...

I recognize that hotel space is difficult to find but paying to store bags after check-out is something most hotels all over the world provide without a charge. Having to buy a lock for the lockers is okay but it should be info provided in advance so that if one has a lock set, just bring it and avoid the expense. If this property is about costs, location and expediencey, then upfront info would be appreciated. Other than that, just fine!

no hot water for two days. staff nice enough to refund one day's charge. Be weary though of 'sickly' beds. Caught some sort of cold/flu from sleeping on a bunk whose preious tenant was sick. Did they even change the pillow cases? Vocally, "yes", Visually "no".

Music seemed to be on all the time and it was too loud and not very diverisified from rock, rap, raggae or international. movied targeted same group. i think you could give more credit to young people's music and movie taste which, i admit, ,would serve me. it was hard to make a phone call in the lobby with the loud music. the kitchen was awesome and the place was kept really clean with hard working staff. people at the front desk knew very little about how to get places or making recommendations. i heard many say they had to go to the police station to get information on how to get around. someone should be there who is well versed on local happenings/offerings for those specifically traveling to tour the area. the next door tour center was more on the commercial, cheesy end of the offerings. what about museums, music, green spaces, parks, beaches for tours/info? The location was absolutely perfect. Laundry services excellent. Library was not a quiet place. Can there be a designated quiet place where there is no talking or music? I couldnt seem to find one for any length of time. Providing combination locks for the lockers on loan would be sweet. Thank you
