Terrible! Please don\'t ruin your holiday in wonderful Damascus. The price on hostelworld is double the rack rate and they steal your deposit (saying they never received it. The place stinks, our room\'s view was of an open sewer and broken sanitary ware. The room was filthy. There is no hot water or towels and the bed was dirty. Please stay somewhere else! The room was open when we returned one night and the manager is a crook!

Iit seemed that they had never had bookings through hostelword before. We paid the 15 dollars for the reservation (for 3 nights) with our creditcard but upon arrival they said that the money would go to Unicef (!) so that we had to pay the full amount. Can you believe it??? I tried to convince them that this is not the way it works, but the manager really didn't want to listen. He kept on saying that the 15 dollars never reached his hotel, but, instead, that he had opted to donate the money to Unicef. But this was my money!! Very strange... Furthermore, once I forgot my jacket in our room. When I got back, one of the cleaning guys was trying to dry his hair, with our hair dryer... He didn't know what to do when he saw me, got nervous, and said a sort of 'sorry'...
