I booked and payed a ten percent deposit but this hostel was closed at the time of my visit. Never got any explenation form the guy of this place and I didn´t get my deposit back from Hostelworld despite my request

At first impression, this is a rather plain and hard-to-find guesthouse 15 minutes from the closest metro station. But it will grow on you immediately. John, the receptionist, is the friendliest person in Beijing and will go out of his way to help you out. And the traditional neighbourhood is packed with interesting things. My favourite memories of Beijing were walking around the back alleys near the guesthouse. Highly recommended, especially if you're staying for more than a couple of days.
