The entrance alleyway & staircase is considerably offputting, but honestly the upstairs atmosphere and service is a vast improvement to that. The cleanliness is like any of the places I went in Cairo -- not that great.

it was fun to stay here and the staff was helpfull. Rooms are fine but avoid the dorm room close to the reception (noisy and bad beds compared to the others). Good points: even if you wake up late they will serve you a breakfast.
