My husband and our 1 year old daughter LOVED this place! Our tatami room was great. Amazing down comforters. The highlight was the private family baths that you can reserve for 45 minutes at $9. each person. It is a private room with 3 tubs. 2 ceramic tubs and 1 regular jacuzzi tub with a fountain. The room over looked a small zen garden. There was even green tea and toiletries to use. This place is expensive at $200- $250. a night. But Kyoto is expensive. Staying here was the highlight of our trip, and worth every penny. You will LOVE this place! I wish we could have stayed more than 2 nights. Be sure to reserve the family bath!!!

difficult to find because there is no signage in English. There should be a map online of nearby landmarks, such as the YMCA.

Great location once you find it. Would help a lot if they can provide a map (English with Japanese) with key landmarks in the area from near by train & bus stops. Enjoyed our stay very much, definately would recommend to our friends and stay here next time we visit beautiful Kyoto.

The best place we`ve stayed on this trip without a doubt. The guests seemed to be wholly Japanese aside from ourselves, the other western tourists possibly put off by the lack of English speaking staff. Not a problem in the slightest. Every member of staff were more welcoming and more accomadating than anywhere I've ever been even with the language barrier. Tough to find initially (we asked directions at the YMCA once we'd found the street-!), but aside from that the best experience I could have hoped for. Proper authentic Japanese hospitality. Stay here!

This tradition Japanese hotel is VERY traditional and excellent value for what they offer and the staff can get by on english. However, they do not explain the running of the hotel sufficently. For example breakfast and dinner is included in the price, but are served on the dot of seven in the morning and seven at night. That said, the rooms are huge, clean and very japanese and the location is convenient. Enjoy!
