It was ok. Shower was small and kitchen was a little rustic. Hmm....Room was safe and secure and cool with the fan.

it is a beautiful place almost at the beach itself and has a very nice patio, would be nice to get some more air trough the rooms because they are very warm although they do have a ven

Very Poor Security! Multiple guests had items stolen from their rooms during my stay there, including me. All evidence points to the cleaning lady (not the regular, but weekend help). But the owner dismissed the complaints with a shrug. Perhaps you will be OK if you don't plan to stay the weekend. Popol-Vuh doesn't have many redeeming qualities. It is close to (but not on) the beach, and quaint, but it very poorly maintained. In the cheapest "double" guests would have to share a full-size

Nice place to stay - steps from the beach and tons of restaurants, bars, etc. Playa del Carmen is a bit tourist - heavy, but we had a blast! Cold showers!

The cbanas at Popul-Vuh was kind of cosy but it´s not a very clean place to stay at. Everything is very basic and no doors to the private bathrooms. The one good thing though is the location. Just in between 5th avenue and the beach. I suppose it´s because the amount of tourists in Playa del Carmen that the hostels don´t seem to care that much of the character. They know they are gonna have bookings anyway... I might stay here again, but I´m not convinced.
