great place!! but they should put wifi on the hostel..very limited internet connection is the only bad thing of this place, if you have a laptop and you want to check youe e mails at anytime..forget it!!

The YMCA itself wasn't that bad, aside from the cleaniness of my bed. The walk to and from it to get to the subway was not safe. During the day it was alright, but at night it was very scary. I talked to NYPD, and they said I definitely shouldn't make the walk at night.

My stay at the Y was very good. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and with full access to the Y while you are there, the amenities are great too. Rooms are small but private. Bathrooms/showers need attention. They weren't disgustingly dirty, but they need to be improved. Location is fine, 3 blocks to the J train, takes about 45 min to get into lower Manhattan.
there where hairs on my bed when I arrived and the bathrooms were not clean!!!!!!

It felt like a family atomosphere which is great if you are from out of town. I enjoyed my stay there and definately recommend others to stay there.
