Directions
Arriving by Train,
Lisbon have 2 major Train Terminals, Gare do Oriente and Sta Apolonia.
Using collective public transportation:
If you can choose Sta Apolonia Terminal, but it is possible also from Gare do Oriente Trains Station to switch train towards Sta Apolónia.
You are 10 min walking distance from the Hostel.
In Santa Apolonia Terminal Station, leave the station.
Go up the hill into the street (Calcada do Forte) on the right side of the Museu Militar (approx. 30 mts from the train station)
Turn left (Rua dos Remedios) (40 mts)
Go straight ahead until you find Rua do Vigario on your right (150 mts)
Keep going up until you find Rua das Escolas Gerais on your right (100 mts)
Keep going until you find a traffic light (80 mts), then turn right and enter the first green gate on your left (20mts).
Using Taxi,
From Gare do Oriente, tell them to go to Escolas Gerais 3 (not Rua das Escolas Gerais, common mistake!!!), near Portas do Sol, 15 minutes & about 10€.
From Sta Apolonia, tell them to go to Escolas Gerais 3 (not Rua das Escolas Gerais, common mistake!!!), near Portas do Sol, less than 5 minutes & about 4€ (maybe some taxi drivers will not appreciate it, because they will consider to be too short trip.
Arriving by Bus,
Lisbon have 2 major Bus Terminals, Gare do Oriente and Sete Rios.
Using collective public transportation:
If you arriving by first (Gare do Oriente), then is the same as arriving by train directions, take a train towards Sta Apolonia and follow the directions we gave.
If you arrive on Sete Rios Terminal, means you are 100mts away from Subway station called Jardim Zoologico (Zoo) in the Blue Line, just take the Subway towards Sta Apolonia (last Stop – 0,75€- aprox. 20 min) and follow given direction to walk from Sta Apolonia.
Using Taxi,
Tell them to go to Escolas Gerais 3 (not Rua das Escolas Gerais, common mistake!!!), near Portas do Sol.
Aprox. 10,0 €, about 20 min.)
Arriving from Lisbon Airport,
Using collective public transportation:
take bus 44, 45, 91 (1,30€- aprox.30 min) or aerobus (3€ - aprox 20 min) to the city center,
Drop off at Praça do Comercio (big square by the river, everyone knows)
Take Rua Augusta (the one with a huge Arch) until Rua da Conceicao (70mts) and take left, you will find a tramway stop there (30mts).
Take tram 28 towards Castel (you can buy tickets from the driver- 1,30€- aprox.10 min).
Get off one stop after Portas do Sol. The hostel is 30 meters from the tram stop, in a place called Patio dos Quintalinhos, (on the left) enter the opened green gate and look for number 1.
Using Taxi,
We recommend buying the taxi voucher in the tourism desk at the airport. €15,35 per taxi (day &week days) or €18,44 per taxi (night and weekends). Tell them to go to Escolas Gerais 3 (not Rua das Escolas Gerais, common mistake!!!), near Portas do Sol. Aprox. 15 min.
Arriving from Oporto Airport,
Using collective public transportation:
Take the Subway towards Campanha Station (direct line), then choose a train to Lisbon, we advice to use a IC Service (Inter City Trains – 19,5€ takes 3 h) or Alfa Service (fast Service – 27,50€ takes 2h35min), trains from 5.47 am to 20.47, at least one train every hour. Choose head to Sta Apolonia Terminal, but Oriente Station is also ok. Then follow our directions.
Using Taxi,

Arriving by car,
go towards City Center, and then follow indications to Castle Monument, Alfama district is just outside Castle Walls. Park free near S.Vicente Fora Church (in Tuesdays and Saturdays it is flee market there so no parking) or paying in Portas do Sol Underground parking, any of those you are about 3min walking from the Hostel, just follow Tramway rails until you find Escolas Gerais, we are in number 3, there will be a tile indication Patio dos Quintalinhos, ring on number 1.
