Academy Hostel en Florence, Italy

This hostel has the best idea yet to ease the "traveler's blues": they host a daily social hour for people to get together to share their adventures and stories. The opportunity to meet diverse people and to talk with them in a relaxed environment was one of the highlights of my trip. It's very difficult for me to give a 5star rating to a hostel if they don't have a kitchen, however, this was a great hostel. The location couldn't have been more perfect, right downtown 8min from train stn. and 5 mins from everything else in Florence (30sec from Duomo/baptistry, 3min to Academy, 6min to Uffizi, 4min OrsanMichele, 5min to Bargello, 7min to Ponte Vecchio....) It was confusing to figure out how to enter and easy to miss....The BEST aspect of this hostel was Romina. She is helpful Megan, from USA ~ 28th Sep 2009

I really enjoyed the stay!I`ve only one suggestion, but it´s not 100%controlable: I saw few people at 7am getting up and preparing the backpack. Well, if people knows thy will be out early morning they should be more carefull with details, because impacts with the sleep of others:)

As you said its very hard to control the time schedule of each guest, this is why these are the consequences of having a shared dorm, that each has their own schedules and habits and the hostel really has no control over knowing when they have to pack and leave. I've been travelling for 3 weeks now by myself and this was the most modern, clean, and fun hostels I've stayed in. Staff is GREAT. Hostel provides everything for free or cheap (laundry, meals, sangria, lockers.) Staff was AMAZING. loved every minute of being here. felt like home. great location too. A very nice hostel, the only problems are that it is quite pricy and that it is quite small - too small to have a hostel bar e.g. Arno, from Germany ~ 10th Sep 2009
