The treatment we got was more like a Bed & Breakfast style. Alanso the he owner of the hostel was treating us like guest in his house, and we felt very welcome .We will defiantly come back. Inger, from Denmark ~ 7th Aug 2009

The Alajuela Tropical Hostel is a great spot--it is VERY close to the airport--why stay in San Jose if you don't have to? Alajuela is actually a nice city and is close to Poas Volcano and the Central Valley highlights. The hostel is just a hostel, but what makes it SOOOOO fantastic is the owner, Alonso. He is absolutely the nicest man I have ever met. He goes out of his way to be hospitable and make your trip an incredible one. Alonso speaks perfect English. Customer service is #1 to him. I've never had such a good experience at such an inexpensive hostel. Clean, free shuttle, free breakfast, fast internet. It's definitely the best value I've experienced in hosteling. Highly Recommended. Michael, from USA ~ 27th May 2009

Alonse is the best. He picked us up at the airport and was so helpful with advice for other parts of Costa Rica. Good breakfast- he gave us fresh pineapple from his farnm! Would recommend it for a stopover., Not a party place though. Anna, from Canada ~ 18th May 2009
