The room we were given had yet to be cleaned, as it was very busy, but apon telling the staff, we were immediately given another room. Although I wasn't exactly impressed with the room not being cleaned, I can understand, and was very pleased at the way it was handled.

I dont have a bad word to say about base sydney..we stayed in a private room and it was spotless...it was like an apartment,and the walk in shower was gorgeous.staff were really friendly,and always helped you out.There were loads of bad comments about the noise but it always stopped at 12,we didn't see the problem.will definetly stay here again,the only down fall was rain rain rain!!!!!

We were not too impressed when on Sunday morning found all power points in the kitchen out of order and when staff told the comment well it is Sunday. Pity the poor people that needed to cook/heat their breakfast. Apart from that the kitchen was spotless.

Good location, friendly staff and easy to get around Sydney from. There's a bar at the ground floor next to the Hostel which is a bit loud sometimes until 12 or 1 am, but nothing troubling. Very nice atmosphere and plenty of computers. Unfortunately, you have to pay for the Internet, but the cost seems very low compared to other places in Australia.

It's not a place where people sleep; people were banging against the walls, screaming and running down the halls. and on the hostel.com website, where it lists what items are included (ie internet, breakfast), they are not included in the payment, but all have a fee, so bring some extra cash, as it can get expensive.

The base backpacker in Sydney is located near the darling harbour and you can walk to every location like the Sydney Aquarium, the Chinese Garden, the Royal Botanical Garden, the ferries and the Rock with the Habour Bridge and the Opera House. The rents are moderate, the staff is friendly, the kitchen big enough for an army corps. I stayed there two times and would stay there again.

The location is fantastic. Less than 5 minutes to train station or darling habour; less than 15 minutes to China Town.
