I really love this hostel. I met so many cool people here. The facilities are good (although it's a rather old building and it's not ideally warm) with a great common room with a large TV and free internet. The dorms are fine and they provide plenty of blankets (did I mention I went in the winter, freezing!) which you need. The staff was super helpful which was really appreciated. I would definately recommend this hostel again.

Very nice, pro-actively helpful staff, and the bed was just fine. My only real regret was taking an airport shuttle van to get to my flight on the way out. Took a really long time and at the end the driver demanded $2 more than the rate I was told at the hostel and turned very cranky when I pointed this out. Take the train unless you have no other choice.

The Blue Parrot has a nice friendly laid back vibe. Gemma and the rest of the staff were very nice and put together some fun activities. I saw someone complain about smells, and I was there during that time and frankly if you stick 10 people in a room during the hot season, we'll get a little ripe, try opening the window, it worked in our room :-) The bathrooms were well tended to and the location kicks butt. The rooms were a disaster and smelled like dirty clothes. I didn't want to spend any time in the hostel AT ALL because it was gross. I would not stay here again or recommend this to anyone.

A lot of silly rules and then get to pick which ones to follow. I found it quite unattractive that I wasn't able to check out at 8:30am (because it was too early for them), even though the sign said it wouldn't be a problem if i warn them a day in advance.

Excellent Hostel overall! Spotless clean, Free internet, 24access to laundry, extremely secure and friendly hostel! Potts point within walking distance to Harbour Bridge/Opera House!Range of shops,Clubs and Pubs(World Bar)around you! Next door to the Train station! Cannot fault anything! We have stayed in Numerous hostels from Cairns down East coast! Overall Excellent Hostel!! So peaceful, beds so comfy + great common room to be just seconds from the Main City!!
