Our first room was extremely dirty and after one night we moved out and then discovered it had bed bugs. We spent hours washing clothes with our suitcases in freezers. It is definitely the party hostel but they have an issue with cleanliness. There are many other cheap hotels nearby that i would recommend staying at and just partying at Gilligans during the day and night but not sleeping there It was disgusting.

The bed bug situation was a rotten, although you try your best to deal with the problem we were not removed from our room on 2 occasions even though the sign in the room clearly stated we would be told. everyone who i had spoke to had heard about it which does not help the reputation!

the staff are the most miserable bunch of people could imagine, the mood is only surpassed by their complete incompetence. however there are not enough of them to manage their way out of a paper bag. This results in huge queues for everything, from booking an excursion to asking for some change. the noise from the open air night club is, at times, unbareable, going on til 3 am; with some rooms placed directly above it. the claim that there is a 'massive' swimming pool is questionable to say the

5 of 8 beds in my room were infested with bed bugs. However, the staff was very friendly and accommodating in dealing with the matter.
This is very much a party hostel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good time rather than rest.

Gilligan's is a decent hostel in a party town; I have stayed twice. They have a great pub downstairs and, unlike many hostels, the beds in the rooms actually look clean when you get in them! Amazing, I know! The only thing I would suggest is be wary of other travelers here. They tend to be disrespectful and people and property.

It is next door to a nightclub so if you are a light sleeper it may not be the best place. But if your in the party mood it's just the ticket.

I was disgusted at the attitude of the staff members when we first checked into the hostel. Matters were made worse when we discovered our room was infested with bedbugs! After a couple of days I was absolutely covered in bites and complained to the duty manager. WHO WAS NO HELP WHAT SO EVER!
