This is a very cute hostel,that's for sure.The grounds are beautiful and there is a covered porch area that has a bunch of couches and places to sit and socialize.The staff was really helpful as well.The only thing is the location isn't that close to the party area, so if you're looking for that, it's not the right spot.It's the perfect place to come and see the local culture and see temples without all the tourists! Hostel is excellent. Maybe it is more expensive in compare to others in Chiang Mai and not exactly near frequent tourist places but it is very clean, atmosphere excellent and staff very kind. I couldn't have asked for more in a hostel. Set off from an already quiet street and surrounded by lawn and gardens, Gong kaew offered spotlessly clean rooms with comfortable beds, good quality air conditioning and all the shower hot water one could use.The staff....actually everyone associated with he hostel.............were consistently gracious and consistently helpful.In addition I found it easy to walk anywhere in the old part of the city with a minimum of effort. The staff was excellent. They helped us with everything. From organizing our trekking tour tobooking our tickets to Bangkok or getting a taxi. To location is as well very good.
