GOOD: excellent location, very clean, very helpful staff, decent sized rooms & comfy beds. BAD: very noisy location, security relies on people in your room remembering to lock the door, big window was left open all day next to fire escape, lockers aren't big enough. I stayed at the Union Square hostel in SF for the recent Nike 1/2 marathon. The staff was VERY helpful and friendly. Accomodations were very nice - internet, great hanging-out room, just a terrific hostel. Thanks! Jeanne, from USA ~ 21st Oct 2009

This overall was a great hostel; it is at an excellent location, newer remodel, it's clean, plenty of space and felt safe. However, I did have some problems. First off it was a larger hostel and felt impersonal, second the staff was very helpful but didn't seem friendly or engaged, third the street noise was loud and kept me up till 3:30am (grab the free ear plugs). Location was great! The hostel is in the heart of San Francisco. There are 2 showers and 2 lavatories per flood what is not enough for a hostel that big. It's also not the most clean one. The staff is fun except for couple people who work at the front desk. I had a total unnecessary late call in my room at 11:15am and the person was totally rude.
