The hostel was quite hard to find as the streets in the area are quite confusing, the bus doesn't stop near the hostel coming from the train station and it was also hidden behind an archway. But once you get inside, the place is very warm and so is the welcome from the staff. The staff can speak a reasonable amount of English and are very very helpful in giving directions to go around Harbin. The room is comfortable enough although water is scarce in the bathroom. All in all, good value! Kamille Iris, from Philippines ~ 10th Apr 2012

Did not provide towels until day 2, and only gave 2 for 6 people. Sold washcloths for 8 kuai at the front desk. Floors were heated which was nice, however no room thermostats so windows had to be opened to cool off. Bathrooms were very inconvenient with the shower, toilet, and sink within 2 feet of each other. Our rooms were not cleaned during our 3 night stay. Front desk was very helpful in writing directions to show taxi drivers, and giving walking directions to nearby attractions. decent lobby atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. two problems: 1) showershot water can be intermittent. in single rooms, water can leak and flood main room. 2) the smell. every room i visited smelled like a septic tank. the smell was so strong & prevalent that it became ubiquitousi could even smell it in the lobby. overall, though, guests seemed happy. good value, cleanliness, and location. The staff was extremely helpful and nice.I had no problems to speak of.The hostel is a short walk away from the historic Zhongyang Street, which is a very cool, almost European looking shopping area. They had clean beds and two computers available with internet access. The lounge by the main lobby is also a great place to meet and chat with fellow travelers.I was even able to practice my Duetsch with a native German couple.Very cool. Had a very pleasant experience staying in the hostel. Definitely the best hostel i have stayed in China till date, compared to hostels in Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, etc. Realized the majority of the guests are from China and this resulted in the foreigners feeling out of place. (especially if they don't speak Chinese). It might be good for the hostel to arrange some activities to bring the people together. This would make the stay a more memorable one.
