I checked in only at 1am and they waited for me. Also, despite being very late, the staff was very helpful in providing guide of how to get around. The service is excellent! Was advised to upgrade into an a/c room because I didn't notice the really cheap room I booked has no a/c. Couldn't decide so the staff brought me around to take a look at the different rooms. Tho the room wasn't that cold for the night ( attribute it to the fact it was late and I didn't know how to adjust the tempera Wilson, from Singapore ~ 2nd Jan 2012

To be fair, it's clean and with good location. But, it couldn't offset the dark side. The hostel is strict and all about money. From toilet tissue and baggage storage to early check-in, and you need to pay for Internet after check out. And you can't do this and that balabalavala.. I arrived tiredly at 9am and waited till exactly 2pm for check in, and I found I was the only one in the 10 mixed dorm... I just dun feel good to pay half more of the room rate to them... But they still tried to
Guest paid less than USD5 for the bed with free internet & breakfast, demanded to enter the dorm while the housekeeper is still cleaning the room. Then despite being given an assigned bed, moved to another bed without informing us forcing the housekeeper to replace new sheets. A rather irresponsible & immature person. His use of foul language here is good example of his character.

- slow feedback when u need any email response from hotel staff - not flexible when u leave your luggage in hostel after check out , u must pay extra cost for that. - this is my first time and last time to stay for this hostel, anybody try to choose any other better.
We did not receive any email from you, perhaps you sent it to the wrong email address. Guests have a choice over a free storage & a paid storage, maybe you failed to understand our simple explanation on the wall notice. Anyway, thank you for extending your stay :) ... we take it as an indication that it was a good stay for you at Cosmopolitan.

Stayed for a week, and loved this place. It was very clean, a short walk to the station, nearby a lot of interesting things, and to top it off, the staff were great. Breakfast is usually typical hostel fare, toast and butter/jam with coffee or tea, but twice while I was there they made more substantial breakfasts with noodles & egg. I arrived very late at this hostel and left the next day, but when I arrived at 22:30 I had a terrible fever and could barely swallow. The staff took immediate concern and helped me get the right medical attention I needed. Turned out I had a pretty bad case of tonsillitis. The next day they checked in on me and allowed me to sleep in a bit.The staff was 100% amazing. I'm so lucky that I stayed there my first night in Malaysia. Thank you! BED BUGS, FLEAS, and other creepy crawlies. I just left this hostel and I'm very relieved. I have never had so many bug bites in my life. The beds are just crawling with bed bugs. The security is nice but they have a camera in the bathroom. It doesn't look into the stalls but it's a little awkward for me to think that someone is watching when I come out of the shower. Location is pretty shady. In the red light area. Loads of prostitutes and people trying to get your money outside the doors.
We wish we could detect if arriving guests bringing in bedbugs/fleas with them in their luggage, but we can't. Anyway, we have almost eliminated the bedbugs & there has not been a single alert for the past 2 weeks. We have been here for 4 years and this so-called "prostitutes" is really something new. There is a "lady-boys" enclave 500 meters from the hostel, which you must have visited, as they are not known to be actively seeking customers unless you approach them/get close to them.

The hostel is quite "run down" and it´s located in a really dirty part of KL witch makes this place not very attractive in my eyes. I have lived in many hostels world wide and i know that there are many ways to create a nice atmosphere even in dodgy areas. But to this place i will not come back.
Looking from your "Novice Nomad" status, it's hard to believe your "lived (stayed) in many hostels" claim. Anyway that's not really important. You only stayed 2 nights, & kept to yourself while the other guests got together & explore the surrounding Chow Kit/Kampung Baru area, the Malay-heartland of the city. Google it & you will find out how significant Chow Kit / Kampung Baru to the formation of Kuala Lumpur & how rich its history is & why the residents chose to retain its originality (maintaining old traditional houses, you cant easily find anymore in the city), despite being just across the road from the Petronas Twin Towers. You might want to do some research first the next time you are in a new city.
