The manager is a really nice guy, and very helpful. The location is good. However it is run down and gloomy. The main problem though is that they cram so many people in. We were in a 9 bed dorm that was 3m x 3m, the heat was unbearable and there was no room to move. No air con, no fan supplied, so for 3 nights we got no sleep as it feels like you have a tropical fever. PAUL, from England ~ 27th Aug 2009

Forget everything that you have read before! This is a great place to stay! The guy who runs the hostel has changed recently and now it's really nice! Small, warm atmosphere, nice common room, and nobody complaining when I crawled into the dorm at 4am! Well, only 4 lockers in the 9-bed dorm, but that's about all the critics. The hostel has a nice style and we were very welcomed by Jeff. He is so outstanding and helpful. People are really nice and gentle. But one of the best points is the location. The hostel is very well located in a charming neighborhood. Recommended Carolina, from Brazil ~ 10th Jul 2009

DO NOT STAY HERE. I have travelled in 31 countries, stayed in hostels and guesthouses in all of them and I work in the backpacker industry in New Zealand - I know hostels and this is probably the worst I have ever stayed at. You can only check in after 5pm, the kitchen and bathrooms are filthy, the dorms are over crowded (9 people in a room big enough for 4). I repeat DO NOT STAY HERE. It was an interesting stay. Great location, and the staff were friendly to me. There was a weird kind of cardinal law going on, I.e. The whole floor got "punished" by having our toilet paper taken away when someone did something to the bathroom. Also, make -sure- you check in between 5 pm and 9 pm because they will not let you in otherwise. Overall a positive experience. Oliver, from Canada ~ 24th May 2009

Only my second American hostel visit (previously all hostels had been in Europe), and it was the first in the Americas that I really enjoyed. Pierre was very friendly, and the location was convenient. Recommended for all. Matthew, from USA ~ 27th May 2009

Easy to find, pretty clean, great location. Pierre who I believe is the caretaker was super helpful. We weren't sure if we parked in spot we were allowed to and he offered to come to where our car was parked and make sure. Great atmosphere.
