I loved La Candelaria Hostel! The staff was so friendly and helpful. There are two well equipped kitchens for guests to use, you get free water, WIFI, and breakfast. There are lots of good hang out spots including a hammock area and it is a good price for a dorm room. They had a small space to work with when designing the hostel and they used their space wisely. This hostel was really beautiful with the gardens behind and the plaza in front. The staff was very helpful and had lots of recommendations and information. As far as I could tell there were fans in all the rooms. Kaley, from USA ~ 13th Apr 2012

Clean ( most important thing to me ), good price, excellent service , nice garden and a good place to meet nice and interesting people from all over the world . One of the best Hostels I´ve stayed , and Valladolid is a beautiful place to use as a hub for visiting many places near by. Miguel, from USA ~ 23rd Mar 2012

Whatever you think you can imagine it looks like based on the pictures, rest assured, they do no justice to the place - it is simply an amazing place to stay! Staff is very friendly, courteous and willing to offer any and all knowledge of the area. I would whole-heartedly recommend it, and already have to friends passing through Valladolid, who stayed there as well. Will definately go back on the next trip! Joe, from Canada ~ 1st Mar 2012

I loved this place! The staff was incredibly kind of friendly and there's a lovely garden with hammocks. And then there's Bob, the chihuahua. This guy is such a charmer, but ladies, be warned. You might think you have a special connection with him. Then one day you'll come back to the hostel only to find Bob blissed out on some other woman's lap! Again, a great hostel and a great town. And Bob, I'll never forget you. Rachel, from USA ~ 9th Feb 2012

My girlfriend and I stayed here in December 2011 for two nights. The hostel is in an old colonial house in a park square with a garden setting that almost takes you out of the city. The staff was most helpful in showing us where all of the local attractions were and we were located about a block and a half from the bus station, so getting around was very easy. This is a good place to use as a hub for day trips or even just to unload and relax for an evening or two. Highly recommended, 5 stars!! Israel, from USA ~ 31st Jan 2012

Strengths: lovely location, beautiful garden, great staff, nice breakfast. Weaknesses: Cramped rooms and little protection from noise.Nearby church bells rang at 6:30 am every day which is good only if you're getting up early to drive to Chichen Itza before the crowds get there. This is a great hostel, a beautiful lush garden and the house itself is very charming. Walking distance to all the sights. I stayed in one of the rooms of the second floor and it even had a TV. The staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. The shared bathrooms were clean and there was hot water. Beds - comfortable and the bedsheets were nice and heavy, not the typical hostel type. Check out the little place that sells freshly squized juices on Calle 35, east of the Candelaria plaza. This is the best hostel I have seen in Yucatan. The beautiful garden and the excellent location contributed to a wonderful stay in Valladolid. The rooms are simple, but clean and breakfast is excellent. Bernd, from Germany ~ 1st Jan 2012
