MINGTOWN People's Square Youth Hostel en Shanghai, China

I stayed at this hostel for a week in a private room. The key wasn't working during my whole stay, so I had to ask someone to open the door for me every time I wanted to go into my room! Also had bad smell in my room and no windows except for one which opens to a hallway so no air was coming...

Very deeply for that innconvence! Now, we are decorating now! so the problem will solve! Thanks for your next time!

3 days without hot water, 3 days air conditioned broken, door key doesn't work never, no clean or change towells, in the other side, staff kind and friendly

The smell in some rooms, the halls, and lobby areas is excruciating, like that of a toilet. It ebbs and flows like the tide. The internet is fairly fast. They were supposed to change my sheets on Day 4, claimed they did, and I had to insist that they in fact had NOT. I fail to see how the unbelievable stench is not mentioned on this website! There is an absolutely filthy market next door and the smell travels through the whole hostel-its so bad it even came into our room. The staff were really nice however, the bar was very cool and it is central but the smell...well kind of makes everything else unimportant! Nicholas, from England ~ 28th Jul 2009
