GREAT Hostel- everyone's really friendly and they don't try to push tours and stuff on you. They'll help you get taxis, give you directions and are just great hosts!

Egypt over all was very deceiving from the actual research online as well as books. The culture shock really set in upon my arrival. When I arrived to the hostel, both the journey and the hostel was incredible fithy dirty. Actually, the hostel was as clean as it could be for being located in an abandonded building that looked like homeless people would be surviving. I am telling it like it is, though the owners need the money and live in poverty, the travelers should know what to expect from a f

Meramees Hostel came highly recommended to us, and for good reason. The location was great, walking distance to the Cairo Museum and lots of great shops, and only a short cab ride away from anything else. The staff was so friendly and did everything possible to make our trip everything that we expected and more. They can help with everything from information, to setting up drivers, guides, and excursions. They are all about hospitality and towels, breakfast, tea and coffee were always compli

From usa, loved the hostel. the place was very well-maintained. It looks ghetto from the outside, but once you make it upstairs to the actual hostel, the people are great, very helpful,, the rooms are kinda warm but they will give you extra blankets. lots of people from the states, and foreigners.

I was bitten by a few bugs--I'm not sure what sort they are, but they definitely suck blood--during my overnight stay. Water's piping hot, the blankets are warm, and the staff is friendly. You just need to get rid of the bugs.
