It's a fairly good place to stay at, but I got the impression that they try to charge their customers as much as they can as Port Inn is in a unique position on hostels.com. Being the only "cheap" hostel in Haifa. I've stayed at many other cheaper hostels in Israel where they provide free breakfast, here they charge you 30 nis. The staff is helpful and excellent. Staff is extremely helpful. Easy to find, but the area is 'tired'. THere is almost nothing to do unless you hop on a train to go to another area. The dorm area only had 2 shower/toilets for 50 or more beds.The toilets smelled and the shower floors were dirty as were the dorm room floors.The dorm rooms do not have any security. The doors do not lock and there are no lockers to secure your belongings. The room was small with everyone's things piled up all around making it difficult to move. I confirm the consensus opinion of Port Inn's being an overall "good" hostel. It's a clean, comfortable stay at a decent location with helpful and kind staff, public kitchen, and a pleasant courtyard in which to sit and meet guests. However, I'm going to knock it on security for its lack of dorm room door locks and individual lockers.
