The hotel is clean and quiet. There are very nice and helpful hosts. I enjoyed the fact that there was a small kitchen and internet-room for everybody´s free use. I didn´t see any problem concerning the surrounding: You just should avoid walking along the more central part of Hastings Road. The best way to arrive is going along Pender Street and then turn left at Princess Street.

I highly recommend this place despite of its location in a bad part of town. Lee the owner is highly hospitable. The price is cheap, the room I stayed in was charming (private single) with a tv, its own sink and refrigerator. It was clean and quiet. Lee saw me smoking outside at night and came out to tell me it was okay to smoke in my room as he was concerned about my safety. I thought that was pretty touching. Lee and staff were very friendly and helpful.
I will stay there when in Vanc

The landlords we EXTREMELY nice. And if you walked down Pender St. (I think), it is totally safe, and not as sketchy.

This is really a one star hotel, not a hostel. Little attempt has been made to make it appealing to the eye.

Location is pretty scary...probably the worst part of town. Very nice front-desk lady.

Nice quiet hostel, lovely couple who run it. Dont be put off by Hastings St (full of drugs addicts) just walk on Pender St and cut through to the hostel on Princess. Or take the Bus, the owners will help you out with that.

This is the best hostel in vancouver if you don't mind the bad neighbrohood. It's clean, quiet, cheap and the owners are really friendly.

In my opinion the East Hastings street is a strange area, where you shouldn´t walk alone outside at nights. I arrived late in the evening and the taxi driver advised me not to go out alone in the dark. The street was full of strange people. The staff was very friendly. Exactly it´s a cheap sleeping place for persons who are less frightened than me.
