Way too crowded and cramped. Also, I booked a 3 bed dorm room and was given a 4 bed dorm room instead. This was the worst guest house or hostel I stayed in during my entire trip to Japan. Actually, if felt more like India than Japan. There are many much better choices in Kyoto. Neil, from USA ~ 3rd May 2012

You WANT to stay in this place. It's so Japanese. It can't be more Japanese. Really unforgettable character, old wooden building. The location isn't perfect (kind of hard to find), but for this price... amazing place to stay. Marek, from Poland ~ 18th May 2012

Best place for authentic living. We were there in the end of march, it was too cold, but there was kotatsu. Toilet and shower throug inner garden. Try to go there in late spring or summer. Konstantin, from Russia ~ 8th Apr 2012

The building was very retro. Looked like something out of WWII Japan. This meant it was a little drafty, floors were creaky, etc, but for me the really unique atmosphere made up for it. You really feel like you're in Japan, and not some hotel. Street names and the sign were not in romaji, so it is a little hard to find.
