George the owner was extremely helpful and welcoming! The restaurant recommendations he gave had excellent food. The hotel itself is a 5 minute walk to malia beach which has awesome waves.However if you're intending to visit the more famous and beautiful beaches of Crete for swimming, Malia might not be such an ideal place to stay because it's a 3h drive to beaches like Elafonissi and Falasarna.
