As others stated the beds are super short, as a 5' 10" person I just didn't fit and it severely affected my sleep. I would not go there again for this reason, only people below 5' 7" or so should stay at this hotel. Also you should expect to be very quiet, as the ceilingless cabins are not private at all in terms of audio and make you very self-conscious (as well as hearing everything everyone else does). I had read all the(bad)reviews before i stayed at the Bowery House. For me, it wasn't like that at all.Yes, the cabins are VERY tiny so you better stay in a dorm, which I did, and it was magnificient with the huge windows and very, very clean.Yes, the ambiance is not exactly like your average hostel but to meet people, you go to the amazing rooftop and start talking to people. One night, we were 15 from about 12 different countries.Yes, it's a little expansive but this is my new home in NYC,10/ catherine, from Canada ~ 21st May 2012

One of the cleanest hostels I've ever stayed in. More like a hotel with bunk beds. The staff were really nice and helpful and it's in a really cool area with lots to do. When I was there most of the guests were working, and as the roof area was a bit too cold to hang out on there wasn't much socialising. But I did meet some nice people and had a lovely stay. Also I should give a shout out to the fantastic always hot drop showers. Loved them! Christie, from Australia ~ 3rd May 2012

This hotel is waaaaay to expensive!!!! Do not go there! It is very noisy and rooms are so small, you feel as if you were in jail + the bed is so small I would only recommand it to dwarfs! The entrance and the washrooms are nice, but I guess the main reason you rent an hotel room is to sleep! Therefore, I do not hesitate to say that this hotel did not meet my needs, and that I would never go back! Patrick, from Canada ~ 24th Apr 2012

The design is fantastic, the rooftop terrace is huge and there is a large common area with sofas. Again, all of which is very stylish. The rooms are more like ship cabins. If you don't plan to spend any time in your room, which is likely in NYC, it's fine. I was in a single and you can just fit in 2 medium sized luggages and yourself next to the bed! The bed is not made for tall people. Julia, from Switzerland ~ 12th Apr 2012

The cabins are really small, especially the beds are made for people who are less than 1.70m tall. Its quite loud because the ceiling of the cabins is a grille. Its prohibited to use your cell-phone in your cabin. But at least the wi-fi is fast and everywhere in the hostel available, even on the rooftop. Berit, from Germany ~ 8th Apr 2012

Bowery House turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. It's a great hostel - they have built excellent interiors, very clean, well separated bunks and very well maintained baths. I really enjoyed the character of the place and it is just a short walk away from the village area. Staff was very helpful as well. Will definitely like to stay here again and would easily recommend to anyone on a budget! Vaibhav, from India ~ 22nd Feb 2012

The rooms are really small. You feel like in a small prison cell. The rooms are like closets or boxes, and they don't have a ceiling, so you always see the hallway light and hear all the other people's sounds (even when they breath or sigh). Veronica, from USA ~ 31st Jan 2012
