This hostel has a really nice atmosphere. It is very centrally located and almost all main attractions are within walking distance. The bathroom/kitchen was very clean. There are no lockers in the room but before/after check in it is possible to use the safe storage area next to the reception. At nighttime you get a code to come into the hostel. I felt all in all safe here. The staff are very friendly and interested to help you what`s to do in Hobart/Tasmania. I enjoyed my 2 day`s here.

Right next to a noisy construction site, with scafolds and workmen right out our bedroom window, this place was a massive disappointment. Our bedding was handed to us at reception after if had been sitting on the floor. Our double-bed room was so rudimentary it definately wasn't worth the $70 we paid for it - when we walked into the room, we felt like we were in a rundown part of shady eastern-europe, rather than a civilised country. The workmen were disappoiting for us too, however they have now finished. We happily GAVE YOU A REFUND which you failed to mention in your review. Your linen was not on the floor. I believe a hotel would be more suited to you anyway, and I suggest you book them in future wherever you go. We hope you were able to enjoy Tasmania.

nice staff, clean place, empty as can be. Hobart in the winter is as dead as Dillinger.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean. the only bad thing when we were staying there was that the internet was down, but the staff helped us with the enquires we needed to do.

This hostel is located very conveniently in the middle of Hobart, unfortunately the next bigger supermarket is a bit far away. Staff is very friendly and the hostel itself + kitchen is very clean. I enjoyed my stay!

Found only 2 toilets and 2 showers for all the many boys. Amenities and kitchen not really clean. For me too big hostel
Our apologies for not making it more clear that there are 4 bathrooms per floor (2 male, 2 female) when you checked in. We actually have a very good shower/loo ratio per customer. We have addressesd the cleanliness by commencing cleaning of bathrooms/kithcn/lounge 3 times per day. We are Tasies biggest hostel, but we cant do much about that! Thanks very much for taking the time to write about our hostel. We very much appreciate it.

Central City Backpackers is a large hostel, and has kept much of its original charm. There are two long flights of stairs to the reception area, so it’s best suited for backpacks rather than large pieces of luggage. The carpeting in our room needed to be replaced, but it appears that they are gradually working on this. The kitchen has lots of supplies, but stove and toaster appliances do not work very well. The hostel staff clean the kitchen area daily, however due to the high volume of guest
HI, Thanks for taking the time to write so much - and accurate. We have replaced most of the carpet, and will get to the remaining rooms in winter. We now have staff clean the lounge, kitchen & bathrooms 3 times per day until we slow down again. We will replace/add more toasters etc. today based on reading your comment. Thanks, we continue to try our best doing what we really enjoy doing!
