There is one tiny downside to our LOCATION: we are located slap bang in the middle of the RED LIGHT DISTRICT! Anyhow, we don't think that it is that dangerous and the hostel has a HIGH safety standard. However, if you don't feel comfortable staying in this area, feel free to book somewhere else.

If this isn't a problem, you'll discover many upsides to our location:
- 3 mins walk from the train station
- 10 mins walk to the museums/river bank
- 15 mins walk to the city centre (shopping street)
And - we promise - you'll find the best international take-away food just around the corner.

Welcome to the Five Elements Hostel.

In summer 2008 we opened this stylish, quality hostel in a beautiful turn-of-the-century building, so everything is still new and, of course, as clean as you expect from a German hostel. But we're definitely more friendly and funny than the cliché.

Our mission perfectly described in a guest rating we received a while ago:
'Clean, new facilities with awesome staff. Best mix I've found of large hostel amenities and small hostel charm' guest rating Aug. 2009.

! IMPORTANT NOTE !
Our hostel is centrally located right between the main train station (3min walk) and the city centre (10min walk). This is right in the heart of the Red Light District. It is not dangerous at all and the hostel has a high security standard, but please if you think you could feel offended or insecure book your stay elsewhere.

We have all the free stuff you could want: free Wi-Fi and laptop rental, free bedlinen, free lockers, free luggage storage, free DVD rental, free city maps, free activities and a free BBQ area!

Please note that we only accept guests between the age of 18 and 45.

We do not accept bookings for groups of larger than six people. We will not honour group bookings split into smaller chunks to get around that. We have a 48hr cancellation policy. No-shows and late cancellations shall be charged the equivalent of the first night’s booking. There is a €4 deposit for bedsheets and keycards, refundable upon check-out.
