Why stay in a city filled with Communist-era apartment blocks when you can stay in the heart of the Bucovina countryside? Bucovina Hills Guesthouse is located just outside Gura Humorului in the rolling foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. Bogdan and Daniela Jucan are your hosts. Both speak excellent English and have dealt with a variety of world travelers. They even hosted a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer for over two years!
A variety of accommodation is available. We can easily cater to solo travelers or small groups. Even campsites are offered. Traditional Bucovina cuisine can be served on request. A kitchen, barbeque and gazebo are on hand for guests' use. A small store is about 200 meters away and will provide basic necessities. Free WIFI is available to those with laptops. All linens are included in our prices. Pickup from the local airport, train station and bus station can be arranged for an additional fee.
Are you visiting the famous painted monasteries? From our guesthouse, a short ten-minute stroll along a meandering country road will take you to 16th century Humor Monastery. And that's if you dog it! Mingle with cows and sheep along the way. The clip-clop of hooves will greet you as horse carts pass by. Visit local artisans selling their traditional items.
Other monasteries are easily accessible. Voronet Monastery, with its famous blue color, is about 10km away. Moldovita and Sucevita Monasteries are only short drives of 25km and 50km, respectively. Optional tours with a local guide are available upon request.
Are you interested in outdoor activities? Great options await you at our doorstep. A plethora of hiking and biking is available. You can even hike or bike to the monasteries! Skiing and swimming is offered at Arinis Park about 5km away.

We do not currently accept credit cards, so please pay in cash. Romanian New Lei (RON) or Euros are acceptable forms of payment. Several ATMs are available in Gura Humorului.

Bucovina Hills Guesthouse is located 5km from Gura Humorului in the village of Manastirea Humorului.
The nearest train and bus stations are in Gura Humorului. Salcea Airport, 35km away in Suceava, is the nearest airport. Pick-ups can be arranged from any of these locations for an additional fee. Taxis can be taken from either station for about 15-20 RON. Taking a taxi from the airport is not recommended.
On your own, walk east from the stations 5-10 minutes to the center of town. A maxi-taxi (small bus) runs from the center to Manastirea Humorului. This maxi-taxi can be found in front of the Best Western Hotel near the town's only roundabout. Keep in mind that there is no official station or sign for the maxi-taxi. Look around for any vehicle collecting people and ask for Manastirea Humorului. Once on board, ask the driver for Bucovina Hills Pensiune. The ride will be about 10 minutes. Cost one-way is 1.5 RON.
