The suburb of Kensington in which the Lodge is located is an established up-market and peaceful suburb just East of the city offering easy access to Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport as well as a host of additional attractions such as the Apartheid Museum, the Ellis Park sports precinct, the main Park Station bus and train station as well as the integrated freeway network to areas such as Sandton and Rosebank ' not forgetting the nations capital ' Pretoria.

Secure, clean accommodation in the form of Double and Single rooms as well as Dorms along with a well equipped Kitchen, hot baths and showers, and, to top it all off a pool and sauna. There is also a BBQ area and well as space to pitch a tent in the garden - we even have fire places in the lounge and in some of the Dorms.
The hostel is situated in the quiet, cosmopolitan suburb of Kensington so it is an ideal area and hostel to relax in when not buzzing around seeing new sights and experiencing the South African lifestyle.
Our shuttle from the airport to the hostel must be arranged beforehand either by emailing the hostel or contacting by phone.



It is important to know that the perception that Johannesburg is a dangerous location is really exaggerated - if anything, crime levels over the past couple of years have subsided and is predominantly restricted to certain areas. Diamond Diggers is situated in the peaceful suburb of Kensington where it is safe to commute and walk to the different attractions. The Hostel is one of the closest to the new 'Johannesburg Gautrain' station - a recently developed high speed train network.
