We are opened especially for visitors/backpackers from abroad to Kyoto in February 2007 by a welcoming family.
'ikoi-no-ie' means 'home of relaxation,' so we endeavor to make comfortable rooms with cosy Japanese style for all our guests.

(1) KIMONO Dressing:
Try on antique kimono and take photos!!
(2) TEA Ceremony:
Taste/make Japanese green tea in classical manner.
3. NEAR Kyoto Station; about 10-15 min on foot!
- Easy Access to the most of sightseeing spots by bus, subway and train from Kyoto Station.
- Some of bus stops and subway station nearby.
4. JAPANESE Style Rooms
- Sleep on Futon.
- Yukata (Japanese pajama like a kimono) prepared.
- No Smoking!

- 6-12 years old: 1000 yen/night
(without own futon; sharing a futon with a parent.)

Nice, quiet place to stay just a 15 minute walk from the train station.If you don't need a tram stop just outside the door, this place was fine.Staff was friendly, but down the road and rarely seen.In a residential area, so no traffic noise at night.Perfectly adequate lodging for Kyoto sightseeing. It was my first time in Japan and I stayed 4 nights at Ikoi-no-Ie. I had a wonderful time and can recommend this Hostel without doubts. The smell that some people mention on the website is from the tatami mats and was nice to have, since I live in Shanghai and smell normally only smog. The location is great, close to the main station, to subway and bus stops. And if you are good by feet you can even walk to Gion very easy. The chance that I come back? Very high!
