Açaí Hostel Salvador
From the hostel you need to walk just a few meters to find all the history of Brazil’s first capital (1549 – 1763), with its well preserved Renaissance buildings, churches and squares. But these are not the only attraction, Pelourinho is full of life, with different music playing from every house, street or restaurant you pass by. Artists in the street will offer you their paintings, sculptures, clothes, shoes and an infinity of Bahian souvenirs. During the night, specially on Tuesday, there are many bars, squares and (again) loud music playing across the streets.
After travelling the world and Brazil, we identified that our country still misses good hostels. Most of them were in bad shape, with shaking beds, dirty old linen, broken walls and bad toilets. We strongly believe that when you are backpacking, having a comfortable clean place to stay is essential to recover the energy spent during the day (or night). So we decided to do like the Portuguese and start by Salvador opening a good hostel, but without missing the historical atmosphere that Pelourinho brings and, MOST IMPORTANT, without missing the backpacker atmosphere: like you, we can`t wait to know new people from different parts of the world, hangout and have fun together!

Rua do Passo, 7 - Pelourinho - Salvador/BA - Brazil
Leave the airport and go through the parking lot to find the bus stop. Take the bus to ‘Praca da Sé’ stop (R$3,30). From Praça da Sé bus stop, first walk to the square Terreiro de Jesus. Walk further down to the square Largo do Pelourinho. From here you walk down and take the second street on the left side up (the street just after the police stand). There will be a sign calling the street ‘Rua Ribeiro dos Santos’. Don’t worry you’re in the right place, it’s the old name of it. The total walk is about 800 meters.
Walk the hight passway until the local busses statition. Take the ‘Barroquinha’ bus (R$3,30) and get out at the ‘Insinuante’ bus stop, in the ‘Baixa dos Sapateiros’ street. Insinuante is an orange store, easy to recognize, but we recommend you to ask for the bus driver or assistant to tell you when to get out. From Insinuante store you just walk towards Pelourinho (50 meters walk). Don’t go left up to the square, but take a right and immediately left (you will see a police stand; the street is on the right side of them). You will see Rua do Passo street, the hostel is by the side of the police parking garage. There will be a sign calling the street ‘Rua Ribeiro dos Santos’. Don’t worry you’re in the right place, it’s the old name of it.
TAXI or OWN TRANSPORT (recommended between 11PM and 5AM):
Ask for the taxi to bring you to Rua do Passo street. Through ‘Baixa dos Sapateiros’ street he will turn right at the orange "Insinuante" Store and head to Rua do Passo.
A taxi from the airport should be around R$90 and a taxi from the bus station should be around R$30. Negotiate the price before and if they don’t accept, look for another taxi, they will end up accepting.
