This is a great place to stay! Like staying at somebody's home. Very nice people, very secure, good breakfast, and very clean. The only slight regret I had is that it was not downtown. However, it is only two blocks away from the Transmilenial transit system so it is easy to get to and from the downtown area. It was very quiet at night and the neighborhood is a very nice one.

I have done extensive travel on every continent for over 35 years, much of that in Colombia. In that time I have encountered worse beds than one of the ones provided at Hostal Bogota Real on only one or two occasions. The mattress in question must have been 30 years old, and the springs were popping through. My wife and I were forced to share one single bed, which was bad as well, but the better of the two. In addition, the website stated that it was to be a double bed, which it obviously was not; it stated "private bathroom, which it was not. We had to share it with at least one other guest, who never flushed the toilet, used up the very small amount of toilet paper that was provided, and spat a huge green glob of spit into the sink and never bothered to even wash it down. The breakfast was one of the worst of the thousands of breakfasts I have eaten in Colombia. If I were a harsher critic I would say that this was false advertising, but instead I will accept that I was just foolish in believing what I read on the Internet. Sincerely, W Loukides
